Dear Residents,
Newport Town Council are responsible for the public toilets on Stafford Street Car Park and we take great pride in ensuring they are kept well maintained for residents and visitors of the town to use.
Unfortunately, due to continuous vandalism we have recently had to reduce the opening hours. We identified that after 3pm was the key time the damage is occurring, and therefore closed the toilets to allow time for us to see if this helped to avoid the issue, we have also be working in consultation with the local policing team and CCTV footage around the area is being monitored.
Sadly, this has not prevented the vandalism continuing with further damage happening early morning, resulting in the toilets having to be closed for a full day to clear the slippery surfaces created by the vandals.
Newport Town Council is committed to keeping the Public Toilets open, however public safety is the priority and we must take action to prevent any accidents.
We would like to appeal to residents and visitors to please report to the Police and the Council if you see anyone behaving inappropriately or causing damage to the building.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused but kindly ask you to bare with us whilst this issue is being resolved.
