The Town Council have been notified of two collections taking place this week to support Ukranian refugees who have arrived in Poland.
Food Save & Share are putting together men’s and women’s toiletry bags that are needed by refugees who have arrived with very little or nothing.
ITEMS NEEDED ARE: Toothpaste, Soap, Deodorant, Flannels, Shaving gel, Shower gel, Hand Cream, Vaseline, Toiletry bags, Razors.
Items can left at Newport Library on Tuesday or Wednesday.
This appeal is being organised by the White Eagle Club London and several vans are transferring the items to Poland later this week.
In addition a Shrewsbury based community organisation, Shropshire Supports Refugees, is collecting supplies that will be transported to refugee centre’s in the Polish cities of Lublin and Przemysl next weekend.
Donations can be dropped off locally at the Newport Enterprise Centre, 10a High Street, TF10 7AN Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.
They are especially in need of the following:
Warm clothing, gloves, hats and socks (not wool due to wet weather)
Pillows, blankets and sleeping bags
Towels
Torches and batteries
Colouring books
Nappies and Baby Milk Powder
Sanitary Products
Toothbrushes & Toothpastes
Please note that organisers have asked that all donations should be new due to the logistics of sorting clothing and bedding supplies before transit.
