Do you, your family or your local group want to help keep Newport tidy by occasional litter picking?
Newport Town Council now have a total of 20 litter pickers that can be loaned out free to anyone who wants to pick up litter around their area or on their regular walks. If you live in the Newport area or surrounding villages and want to help keep the walkways tidy simply contact the Guildhall and arrange to borrow the equipment. You will be asked to sign that you have had them and return once you have finished. A regular loan of the pickers can be arranged.
Town Mayor Peter Scott said âI speak to many people who say they litter pick when out and about and I see others picking up litter with their bare hands. This equipment will allow them to pick it up safely and cleanly. My Community Litter Pick Team continue to meet regularly and this idea will allow others to help out on days and times that suit themâ.
Anyone interested should call the Guildhall on 01952 814338 or email the Town Clerk via enquiries@newportshropshire-tc.gov.uk
