A quantity of household rubbish has been dumped on the side of the A41 at Chetwynd, north of Newport this morning and set on fire. Fire service have attended to extinguish the fire and items have already been located within the fly-tip linking to an address elsewhere in Telford.
Not only is this damaging to the environment, but it also falls to the local authority, and ultimately all of us as taxpayers, to collect and correctly dispose of such waste.
Anyone who uses an unlicenced person/company to collect and dispose of waste on their behalf can also be fined and prosecuted.
With the increase in advertisements on social media offering such services we would appeal to everyone to ensure any person or company they engage with is fully licenced and above board.
In this case, someone can expect a visit from the Telford and Wrekin Council Enforcement Team and potentially a fine or prosecution.
