Newport’s St George’s day celebrations in Newport High Street

A procession from 12pm followed by a live dragon slaying, A fun day for the family.



Sunday 21st April + Monday 22nd April – Motorfest 10am-4pm

NEW VENUE – Chetwynd Deer Park, Newport, TF10 8EU. See up to 100 classic cars, live music from The Quik Beats (Sun) and The Delray Rockets (Mon), Easter egg hunt, free face painting and children’s disco and appearance by Elsa from Frozen. Free car parking. More details –


Saturday 27th April - Nova Raiders Route 66 Sportive 2019


Nova Raiders Cycle Club are holding 2019 "Route 66 Sportive"on Saturday 27th April 2019. There will now be there courses to choose from: Route 99, Route 66 and Route 33. Start and Finish will be from The Lodge, Newport Showground, Chetwynd Deer Park, Newport, Shropshire. TF10 8EU

A donation will be made by Nova Raiders to a local charity/Charities, (To be confirmed).

Cycling through the beautiful Shropshire countryside with iconic views of The Wrekin, Long Mynd and the Shropshire plains. More details




Saturday 4th May – Field to Fork Festival at HAU from 10am



The Field to Fork Festival celebrates and explores the story of our food, today and for the future.

Expect a great FREE day out for the entire family, from more than 100 food, drink and crafty stalls to live music, loads of kids entertainment, sports, hands-on experiences, displays, animals and much more. This event is FREE to enter, come and help us spread the story of Field to Fork and learn how we can feed the ever increasing population.


There will be a park and ride running so please go to Cheywynd Deer Park and pay the £5 per car to catch the free bus ready for the best fun day out - please note there is NO parking on campus so use the park and ride service!

Saturday 8th June – Newport Carnival


Each year thousands of people flock to Newport Town to watch the carnival and parade, There are a variety of shows and activities throughout the day, there's something for everyone whatever your age!

The High Street entertainment starts at 10am, with the Royal Party crowning held at the Butter Cross at 11am. The Parade starts at 12 noon on the Longford Road and travels along Newport High Street, Crowds of people line the High Street. This will be the third year the carnival will be held in the heart of Newport on the High Street for the duration of the day.

Friday 14th June – Old Tyme Market 6pm til late


The event formed by the Chamber in 1968 has been held annually in the granite sett street known as St Mary's Street.


The idea was to promote a Victorian theme along with other events in June in the Friday after the Newport Carnival, starting at 6pm till dusk.


To date we have developed up to 60 stalls ranging from homemade foods to plants with local organisations encouraged as well. The Market starts with a procession led by the Town Crier, and including the Mayor of Newport, the Chairman of the Chamber, the Carnival Queen and attendants.


Times to be confirmed. St Mary's Street in Newport will be closed from Noon on the Friday until 10pm, with the event due to start around 6pm.




Saturday 13th July – Newport Show 2019


Newport Show brings together the best of the region's food, entertainment and agricultural excellence in a one-day event not to be missed.

Saturday 21st September - Newport Food Frenzy


Newport Food Frenzy features a variety of artisan producers from across the West Midlands. Starting at St Mary’s Street leading down to Lower Bar and into the High Street. There are currently over 50 stands bringing a variety of produce. From local meats to wood fire pizza there are several things to get those taste buds tangling.
